Classic Triangular Sundial Compass in Patina Black Brass. With Glass & Teak Display Case

This curiously callibrated triangular sindial compass is very hard-to-find...

One of the most beautiful solid patina & buff brass "antiqued" sundial compass with a 4" size appropriate for your desktop. This top-quality unit is a one of a kind beauty to behold, a repro made sometimes in the mid 1980s, and one of the largest in the category. The sundial can be folded inwards and is as accompanied by a hinged curved scale that helps set your local latitude angle. The combo of sundial and compass is of great utility as the magnetic compass allows the sundial to be oriented North. This compass features a needle lock mechanism to protect the compass's jeweled bearing when being transported. This is very important since most low end compasses tend to give faulty readings due to a shift in alignment of the needle during transport.  Local time is marked by the sun's shadow cast by the extendible vane.  The entire unit can be folded inwards before repacking. The latitude scale and the sundial vane are hinged to lay flat for compact storage.  Please note that this is not an antique but a rare and fully functional reproduction.
