The Ross London 56" HarborMaster

the classic 56" Brass Terrestial Telescope with 63" Mahagony Tripod

This Ross London® telescope is one of  the most classical and collectible telescopes in our inventory. It is 56-inches long, easily the longest in its category and boasts an impressive 63-inch high mahogany tripod. The telescope uses highest quality ground-glass precision achromatic optics to produce the brightest and sharpest non-inverted image of any of our telescopes. This harbourmaster turns heads wherever you install it and will transform living rooms, beachhouses, boat decks and classy offices with its impressive shine and finish.

The 32-power optical design, coupled with its gigantic 60 mm objective lens, gives it the perfect balance between terrestial magnification and field of view. Too much magnification restricts how much you can see through the scope and too little makes the telescope a mere decorative. Terrestial scopes usually reach their upper magnification limit at between 48x to 60x and anything more than that gives very poor focus. Note that this is primarily a terrestial telescope with a precision rack and pinion focus and is not intended for "celestial" observations -  although it does make the moon look rather nice!

The telescope is 56 inches long when fully extended. The height of the telescope is 63 inches (1.6 meters) tall and the telescope with tripod weighs 25 pounds (11 kg). The integrated sun shade is 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm) in diameter, and the objective lens diameter is 60 mm.  The eye-piece is designed to provide maximum eye relief and all lenses come with tailor made brass lids with ornamental chains. The telescope body is made of solid 1.8 mm gauge brass and is virtually ding-proof. The objective scope detaches and the tripod collapses conveniently for easy package and transport
