In Native American traditions such drums are often used for ceremonial purposes. Nowdays their fabulous sound is being used extensively for fusion music and to accompany other ethnic instruments. All our shaman drums are totally hand-made with a wood frame and finely worked calf skin head and a rawhide cross handle, which provides far more flexibility and resonance than a conventional wood cross handle. To get yourself an authentic-sounding shaman drum is not easy since most that are being made today are simply Indian exhibit pieces, that are made for display and as reservation souveneirs rather than performance. None of them look even half as authentic or psychedelically stimulating as the tie-dyed painted patterns on this beautiful 12" drum.
