New silver Mellophone or Tenor Cor. This beautiful chrome-plated instrument has 3 valves and a bell of
10”diameter (26 cm) and an overall length of 18”(46 cm). It is in E flat with an extra slide which
changes it the F note. Mouthpiece & gigbag case included.
More conventional French horns have rotary valves, this hard-to-find mellophone comes with piston
valves (Périnet system) that makes it much easier to march with and also easier to play for someone
who has been using piston valves before in cornets and trumpets. The sound is exactly the same as an
advanced level French horn except that the newly designed piston arrangement makes it much easier to
learn. The valves, as you can see in the accompanying picture, are finished with an elegant
mother-of-pearl inlay. As smooth as they get!
